Expressions – the process of making known one’s thoughts or feelings.

I recently redesigned my blog and I was giving some thought as to how to introduce the new look. I was looking through my portfolio for something new, unique or special that I could use as a theme for announcing the new look. As I looked through my work, I realized that I have had many, many opportunities to experience nature in a very unique way. Through my photography, I have captured images of beauty, images of fun, educational images and images of life that most people will never experience. The more I looked through my body of work, the more I began to recognize just how special photography has been to me.

A frequent conversation with Faith usually includes some incredulity on her part about the pre-dawn departures or hours of driving I will endure in order to even have a chance to capture something unique. She struggles to understand why, after a full week of work, I would put myself through the sacrifices necessary to pursue my passion with absolutely no guarantee that I will come back with even a single image to keep. I find it difficult to express in words why I do this. But I can easily point to a specific image and say “that’s why I do it!”. Expressions of beauty, playfulness, curiosity and life itself say more about why I follow my passion so keenly. My art, my photography, expresses my passion more than words will ever be able to do. The local and national recognition that some of my images have achieved have been affirmation that encourages me to push my limitations to see just what I can do.

That being said, I do love to write and I love to write about my outings with the camera. I feel the story that I write along with the images I capture bring the viewer and reader more in tune with me as an individual. I spend my working hours “talking” to computers in bits and bytes and I am grateful for that career. It pays the bills for the photography!! My photography is nothing like my career. My photography is about life and living, not some soulless machine that defines my career. Photography is the expression of who I am as an individual. I yearn to release that inner passion and share the unique encounters with others through words and images.

So what better ways to introduce the new look of my blog than a sincere Thank You to you, my readers, followers, friends and customers. Your support and encouragement has meant more to me than you can imagine. I treasure every comment on my blog posts, Facebook, Instagram and Flickr and I hope that I have brought a smile to your face or touched your heart in some way through my art.

I put together a video of some of my favorite images and set it to music. It is about 7 minutes long, but to me, it seems to go by very quickly. The video is an expression of my art through the years and represents better than words ever will why I am passionate about this hobby. I have been very blessed to have had these experiences and I look forward to many more opportunities in the future.

I hope you enjoy the new look of the blog and the video.

I absolutely love the video and the music! They fit together perfectly. I showed this to my Mom (the pianist) and sister and they were enamored with your beautiful photography (as always). Thanks for sharing your extraordinary gift and please continue on your path.
